ISMIP7 includes two main types of models:
Coupled Climate Models with Ice Sheets
Integrating ice sheet models with global climate models or Earth system models to improve feedbacks between ice sheets, atmosphere, and ocean.
Understanding how ice sheets evolve in response to different climate scenarios.
Improving the representation of ice-atmosphere and ice–ocean interactions within Earth system models.
Standalone Ice Sheet Modeling
Running ice sheet models independently using prescribed climate forcing.
Exploring uncertainties in ice sheet behavior by varying model initialization, parameters, and ice dynamics.
Evaluating the role of surface mass balance, basal melt, and calving processes in long-term projections.
